If your DC street needs reserved curb space, the District requires an Emergency No Parking permit from DDOT — $50 through the TOPS portal, with signs posted 72 hours ahead on unmetered blocks (24 hours on metered ones). Delivering in New York City
New York is a different game from DC, and it’s where route experience pays off.
Certificates of Insurance. Roughly nine out of ten doorman, high-rise, and co-op buildings in NYC won’t let a moving crew past the lobby without a COI naming the building as certificate holder and additional insured — $1M per occurrence is the usual minimum, and luxury managements ask for more. Send us your building’s requirements (or your super’s email) and we file it directly with management, usually within one business day, at no charge.
Elevators. Manhattan and Brooklyn buildings typically require a freight-elevator reservation booked 5–7 business days ahead, in a 3–4-hour weekday window — some co-ops also want a refundable move deposit. We schedule your delivery around the window your building confirms, not the other way around.
Parking. Unlike DC, New York City has no residential moving-truck permit system — there’s nothing to order from NYC DOT. Our crews work the legal alternatives daily: scouting curb space on arrival, using commercial loading zones, and staying inside NYC’s commercial-vehicle standing rules so your move doesn’t eat a $115+ ticket.
Truck routing. Trucks are banned from NYC-area parkways (Belt, Grand Central, FDR, Henry Hudson and the rest), where bridges drop to 6’11” — we run the approved truck network into Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, plus Jersey City and Hoboken.
